Mary got her start in public relations in the late 1970s in the Land of Screams and Dreams – Six Flags Over Georgia.  Since then, she has honed her craft at both agencies and on the corporate side.  For 10 years, she was a founding partner and president of Hayslett Sorrel, one of the US’ top 75 independent public relations firms. Mary is a graduate of Oxford College of Emory University and of Emory University.  She and her husband, Mike, have two teenage sons. Her volunteer experiences include giving time to The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), The American Cancer Society, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (she has organized teams to participate in five 3-Day fundraising walks and is captaining a 2010 team), The Cathedral of St. Philip and Act 3 Playhouse.  Mary’s community service efforts were recognized with PRSA’s 2008 George Goodwin Award, for "significant contributions to the community through volunteer service ... at a consistently high level of participation, leadership and achievement."
